The three cubic metres (around four tonnes ) of sand  awaits compaction.

Once the base has been compacted I added more height using bin forms.

Carving starts.

I was asked to sculpt Poseidon racing through the sea.

The event was the Mackay Airport Beach Horse Races.

Fire lighters were to be used to illumine the sculpture at night.

Small Spartan soldier head. Greek festival St. Paraskevi Brisbane

The great thing about this small one is that it could be moved indoors on the platform it was sitting on.     
I created one for a school trivia night which has been resting in a classroom for three years!
